Awareness
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals that member states have pledged to achieve by 2030. The SDGs cover a range of topics including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, water and sanitation, climate change, and peace and justice.
The SDGs were designed with people in mind – specifically the most vulnerable and marginalized people on the planet. This includes children. SDG target 4.1 is to “ensure that all girls and boys complete primary and secondary education” by 2030.
So how can we make sure that we achieve the SDGs for and with children?
First, it’s important to raise awareness about the SDGs among children and young people. They need to know what the goals are and why they matter. This can be done in schools, through community groups, or even at home by parents and guardians.
Second, we need to involve children in the process of achieving the SDGs. This means consulting with them about what they think needs to be done to improve their lives and their communities. It also means involving them in activities related to the global goals for sustainable development, such as volunteering, fundraising, or campaigning.
Third, we need to provide children with the resources they need to be able to take action on the SDGs. This might include things like access to quality education or training opportunities; financial support for initiatives
Action
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal agenda for peace and prosperity for people and the planet.
There are 17 SDGs in total, which are grouped into 5 categories: people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership. Each Goal has specific targets that countries should aim to achieve over the next 15 years.
One of the most important groups that we need to engage with to achieve the SDGs is children. They are the future generations who will inherit the world that we leave behind, and so they must be involved in shaping the world that they will live in.
There are many ways in which children can be involved in achieving the SDGs. For example, they can be taught about the Goals in school, or they can get involved in local or global campaigns related to the Goals. They can also be encouraged to adopt sustainable lifestyles themselves, such as by reducing their food waste or saving water at home.
Accountability.
When it comes to Sustainable Development Goals, accountability is key. We all must take responsibility for ensuring that these goals are met, both now and in the future.
There are several ways in which we can be accountable for achieving the SDGs. Firstly, we need to ensure that our governments are taking action to achieve the goals. We also need to hold businesses and other organizations accountable for their impact on the environment and on people’s lives. And finally, we as individuals need to do our bit to make sure that we are living sustainably.
We all have a role to play in ensuring that sustainable development Goals are achieved. By working together and holding each other accountable, we can create a better world for everyone, now and in the future.
